Dear Music Patron,

The Nelson County High School Band of Pride has a life-long mission to provide music and music eduation in our local community of Bardstown and Nelson County.  In correlation with our school district the Band Boosters of the Band of Pride has a vision of making every opportunity possible available to every student who wants to participate, regardless of race, age, demographics, socio-economic status or disability.  As the economy suffers the affects on everyone are tremendous; certainly not excluding education and music education specifically.  Despite these possible setbacks, the parents and supporters of the NCHS Band have joined forces with the drama and choral departments and together they have prevailed and are diligently working to ensure none of our students feel this pain.

As a member of our community we hope that you share this vision of allowing every student who is willing to have the opportunities to better themselves and their life by participating in music.  Research has proven time and time again that students who study music score higher on standardized tests, become more independent and creative thinkers, as well as build individual responsibility and respect.  Most medical schools prefer music students, or students who have a background in the study of music as they look at their applicants.

The Band Boosters continue their work to raise the funds necessary to support these future leaders.  They have purchased new uniforms for the marching band, fitted the concert band with tuxedos and dresses for concert attire, purchased 3 trombones, 3 trumpets, 4 clarinets, 2 flutes, 2 saxophones, 3 french horns, music posture chairs, music stands, flags and flag poles, numerous percussion instruments including a marimba and timpani, as well as providing private instruction for 15 students this school year.  The work has only begun but in order continue these kinds of improvements we need your help!
